Lucia & John’s Surprise wedding

Yip, that’s right…a surprise wedding!! This Australian couple ( Bride being ex-south African) decided to surprise the living daylights out of their family by having a surprise wedding in South Africa! (LOVE this idea!) So, this is how it worked…All their family boarded the plane to South Africa (The bride wanted to show her in-laws where she grew up, so this trip was planned anyway). On the plane, as everyone was settled in, a bust of excitement broke out as the couple handed each of their guests a beautiful invitation to their wedding. No one expected this and was completely blown away and delighted! As you can imagine, everyone’s first reaction was “How, where, when, what are we going to wear????” So many questions, but between Lucia and myself, everything has been taken care of. All the guests’ suits, dresses, shoes and belts were already bought and the party was arranged, all they had to do was to rock up 🙂

What a special day this was. Only family attended this wedding, but don’t be fooled by numbers, the most special and energetic 12 people I have come across in a while. The ceremony was in the morning, that was followed by a lunch, and wedding cake, that was followed by dinner, dancing, speeches, laughing and crying (only happy tears)… and the party carried on till after midnight. Being part of the planning for Lucia and John’s big day was so exciting and special and I have made a family of friends.
